About Filter Frames
TOKYO GRAPHER offers two filter frame structures:
Standard Frame and the Layer-X Filter Mount System.
Standard Frame is designed for filters used on their own.
The Layer-X Filter Mount System combines BASE and PLUS filters, allowing them to be stacked.
You can choose the structure that best fits your shooting style.
Layer-X Filter Mount System
The Layer-X System is a hybrid lens filter system that combines a screw-in BASE with magnetically layered PLUS filters.
BASE filters such as Protectors, CDF, and OPF remain on the front of the lens as a constant reference for light.
PLUS filters—ND, CPL, or cross—are added according to the situation at hand.
By separating what stays on the lens from what is chosen in the moment, the system naturally expands the freedom of how you engage with photography.
Layer-X BASE Filter is an optical filter that attaches to the front of the lens using a standard screw-in mount.
The front surface is equipped with both a built-in magnetic structure and a threaded mount, allowing PLUS filters such as ND, CPL, or cross filters to be layered when needed.
In addition to magnetic PLUS filters, standard lens caps and conventional screw-in filters can also be attached, so the handling remains familiar in everyday use.
The BASE filter blends naturally into daily shooting and serves as the starting point of the Layer-X system, expanding how light can be handled to suit different shooting styles.
The Layer-X PLUS Filter is an optical filter that attaches magnetically to the front of the Layer-X BASE, adding optical effects to your images.
Cross, ND, and CPL filters can be layered easily whenever they are needed, expanding creative possibilities during shooting.
Even when a PLUS Filter is added, the increase in thickness is just 3.4mm.
It can be used with wide-angle lenses equivalent to 24mm without noticeable vignetting at the edges of the frame.
A magnet is also built into the front, allowing multiple PLUS filters to be stacked together for easy storage and transport.
Standard Frame uses a conventional screw-in filter frame.
With a slim 5.7mm profile, it fits naturally on the front of the lens without disrupting its appearance.
The front surface features laser-engraved decorative lines and text, allowing the filter type to be identified at a glance.
