What is OPF

OPF (Optical Preset Filter) is an optical filter developed to capture not only what appears inside the viewfinder, but also the brightness and presence of light that exists beyond the frame.

Using specially designed high-precision glass, OPF creates a natural, subtle bloom around light sources.
Its advanced dielectric multi-layer coating introduces delicate color shifts depending on the angle of incoming light, allowing traces of off-frame light to be felt within the image.

This is not about adding color.
It is an expression that works directly with the behavior of light itself—
creating depth and lingering atmosphere that digital processing cannot replicate.

A new generation of optical filters that layer sensation into photography

OPF (Optical Preset Filter) is a new type of optical camera lens filter created to layer into photographs the sensations that cameras cannot fully capture—the glare of light, shifts in angle and intensity caused by time of day and season, and the color and temperature of the air as perceived through human senses.

By combining the softness of light reminiscent of film photography with the clarity and resolution unique to digital imaging, OPF enables a new form of photographic expression that cannot be reproduced through digital processing alone.

Advanced optical technology, refined in Japan

OPF uses a precision-engineered dielectric multi-layer coating,
allowing the visual character of an image to subtly change depending on
the intensity and angle of incoming light.

This optical behavior adds depth and nuance that cannot be replicated digitally.

To ensure long-term usability, the glass surface is also treated with a
water- and oil-repellent coating, reducing the adhesion of water, oil, and fingerprints.
Dust, droplets, and smudges can be easily removed with a blower, keeping the filter clean with minimal effort.

Layer-X — A new layered filter system

The Layer-X System by TOKYO GRAPHER is a lens filter system built on a new layered structure, consisting of a screw-in BASE filter and optional PLUS filters that stack on top.

Each filter can be used on its own, and thanks to the built-in magnet on the front of the BASE filter, PLUS filters such as ND, CPL, and cross filters can be quickly attached or removed as needed.

Layer-X PLUS filters are scheduled for release in late January 2026.

Reliable Repair Service

To help you enjoy your OPF / CDF filters for many years, we offer a dedicated repair and replacement service.

If the filter glass is damaged, the glass can be replaced for approximately 25% of the original product price.
If both the glass and the filter frame require replacement, the cost is approximately 50% of the product price.

This service is designed to keep your filters in use longer, without unnecessary replacement.

Before and After of OPF 550-L [BASE]

This is a comparison between images taken with and without the filter.
In scenes with strong light sources, the filter softens the edges of light and introduces visible ghosting that enhances the sense of glare and atmosphere.
If you prefer to reduce ghosting, it can be minimized by adjusting the angle of the filter relative to the light source.
Maintains a natural sense of balance while gently shaping highlights and contrast.

Choose S or L by the Spread of Light

S (Soft Light) keeps light diffusion subtle, preserving edge definition and resolution while adding gentle changes to highlights and contrast. L (Light) allows light to spread more visibly, bringing stronger bloom in highlights and a more pronounced sense of atmosphere across the frame.

The perceived diffusion also varies depending on the focal length of the lens. As focal length increases, diffusion tends to appear weaker. For this reason, S is recommended for focal lengths of 35mm and below, and L for 50mm and above.
